Aeira is the sweet lady who owns the small bookstore near the school. With thick eyeglasses and her childlike dress, she's easily recognizable. Unlike other girls her age, Aeira has little interest in fashion and beauty. Aeira's charm lies in her natural beauty and her intense curiosity and research for philosophy and truth. With a wide range of interests from the philosophies of wise men to ancient myths, Aeira loves people who can stimulate her intellectual interests. Her favorable treatment towards Stewart, the magic teacher, and Kristell, the priest, is evidence of her predisposition towards intellectuals. Although she is friendly, she is difficult to befriend as she doesn't warm easily to strangers. The owner of the general shop, Walter, is her father.
Dressed in shiny silver armor and a dark blue surcoat(which she is quite particular about), Aranwen is located in front of the Dunbarton school and is its distinguished combat teacher. As a former knight in the service of the Royal Guard, she supposedly resigned from her royal duties because she had a hard time fitting in at a predominantly male occupation, even though her skill were up to par with the captain of the Guard. Her army influence is still clearly evident in conversation, which gives you an idea of how involved she must have been with the Royal Guard. Although many men ask this beauty for a date, she claims not to be interested in anyone who cannot beat her in battle; dating Aranwen can truly be a life-threatening proposition!
Erskin Bank is a giant chain of banks spread throughout all of Erinn, including the Eilich kingdom. After Austeyn became the manager of the Dunbarton branch of Erskin Bank, the bank as well as the town began to boom. He is quite well known throughout town as a shrewd and intelligent banker.
Austeyn's loose speech and quirky behavior may be somewhat misleading for a banker, but Austeyn started at the bottom many years ago and worked hard to become a manager. He is extremely meticulous and thorough when it comes to his work. These qualities make him an excellent consultant and counselor in all matters, including those not related to banking. People will share information with Austeyn that they wouldn't share at church!
An employee at the government office, Eavan has the king's sanction to tackle difficult cases in Dunbarton that cannot be solved through conventional methods. Eavan will assign adventurers and travelers that come through Dunbarton to these cases as she sees fit. She is a just and efficient, and compensates those working on her cases fairly. Because Dunbarton is a central city with much traffic, Eavan stays very busy keeping track of those in her employ, making sure that her requests are completed on time and rewarded accordingly. Her cold and distant personality mirrors her looks, but that can be attributed to the stress accumulated from her busy job. Come to think of it, not much is known about her personal life...
As the flow of traffic through Dunbarton constantly increases, Eavan has lately been complaining of exhaustion. The abundant love letters sent to her by adventurers that fall in love with her don't help matters either.
Although Dunbarton square is lined with many colorful shop, Glenis' restaurant always seems to attract large crowds with the savory aroma emanating from inside. As the owner of the restaurant, Glenis has always emphasized that great taste comes from loving hands. Her cooking skills are famous throughout all of Erinn, and travelers far and wide claim that there's no better meal served then the ones from Glenis' kitchen. She has plenty of ingredients that she kindly sells at wholesale, making her restaurant a must-see attraction in Dunbarton.
Glenis actually handed down her restaurant some time ago to her daughter Flora, but she can still be seen outside merrily chatting up passersby. She was also known to be quite the beauty as a young woman as well.
The strikingly beautiful Kristell is the priestess working at the Dunbarton church. Educated and ordained at the school in Emain Macha, she was soon sent to Dunbarton to tend the spiritual needs of the city. Her mesmerizing beauty can be instantly identified even from far away, and many joke that Dunbarton chose its priestess based on appearance.
Amazingly enough, Kristell's heart and faith outshine her beauty, and the townspeople through respect and admiration consider her a saint. Before deciding to become a priestess, she studied to become a Druid, but quickly changed her mind after experiencing the joy of serving at church. Because of her Druid studies, she has rare knowledge of advanced Druid magic, and will have intellectual discussions regarding magic to Steward, the magic teacher. Aeira, the bookstore owner, seems to be a little bothered by this...
Manus is the powerfully built and macho healer of Dunbarton. Also a seller of herbs and potions, Manus' extremely friendly personality allows anyone to befriend him easily. While a few people think he's narcissistic, Manus' most important trait is that he is an excellent healer and a saver of lives.
Not originally from Dunbarton, Manus says little about his past other than he was a scrawny kid. Hard to believe for someone as muscular and chiseled as Manus. Obviously very proud of his physique, it's easy to get an idea of why some consider him conceited.
South of the Dunbarton school is the weapons shop owned by Nerys. Because Nerys is a young woman, many of the rugged warriors visiting her shop are surprised to see her behind the counter. However, Nerys has used to constant hardship and danger as she traveled throughout the land of Uladh ever since her youth. For this reason, she exudes a collected coolness. She has no interest in things unpractical, with the exception of accessories.
Nerys originally opened the shop with a friend but now runs the store alone, which worked out for the better as the store seems to be doing quite well. Nerys cleverness with her words and her hands probably has something to do with the shop's success as well.
Simon is Dunbarton's very own fashionista! Every bit of fabric he patterns and designs carries a lifetime's worth of experience in designing and production. He is particularly interested in the cutting and sewing of fabrics in effort to make the most comfortable clothing. Simon's mantra is that making clothes is like shaping and molding your soul.
With his piercing eyes and quivering voice, Simon may make you slightly uncomfortable at first, but trust in his fashion and clothing instincts, for he is rarely ever wrong.
With his glasses and his baby face, Stewart doesn't look like your typical magic instructor. Stewart decided to become a magician when he realized that material things alone cannot solve all the problems of the world. Ever since he was young, he desired to see past the laws of nature to the unseen principles that govern all the phenomena and supernatural events. As he grew up next to the tool shop, Walter came to think of Stewart as his own son. Although Stewart didn't study magic at a formal school, he is not only an advanced magician, but also an excellent teacher. He's also said to be friends with Lassar, the Tir Chonaill magic teacher.
I met a man at the General store; he had a grumpy face, seemingly unhappy about something. His blunt and brief words seem to imply that he wasn't all that interested in getting any business. His name is Walter, the owner of the General Store. With a face like that, finding out his name was a big accomplishment in itself!
They say Walter was carpenter when he was young. He used to build houses and household items. He must've been pretty good as many people inquired his service. His gruff personality probably comes from his younger days as a carpenter. When the lumber house moved to Dugald Aisle, he quit his job and started a general shop. Although he hasn't quite shaken off his carpenter persona, if you get to know him, he is very soft hearted and kind. You don't believe me? Well, can you believe that the sweet lady at the bookstore is his daughter?
The grumpy, blunt, and gruff man at the grocery store is known as Walter. A carpenter when he was younger, Walter excelled at building houses and household items. His carpentry was so masterful that many people still inquire about his services. After the lumber yard moved to Dugald Aisle, he quit his job and started a general shop. Beneath the rough exterior lies a kind softie. Much like the sweet lady at the bookstore who happens to be his daughter.
Tracy is the renowned woodcutter living in Dunbarton. Traveling all the say to the lumber camp every day, rain or shine, to cut wood, Tracy's diligence is famous in all of Dunbarton and even Tir Chonaill. His job may not be an easy one, but his joyful attitude leaves lasting impressions in peoples' hearts.
With his contagious personality and magnetic smile, meeting Tracy in the Dugald Aisle is a refreshing breath of fresh air...you'll know why when you meet him.
